Today we talked about what we need to do to be better learners. The children decided three things would help them. The first was to settle down quickly to their learning, the second was to resist distractions and the third was to become independent learners. We practised resisting distractions by taking it in turns to model good learning behaviour and complete a simple task, which was copying a model made of coloured bricks. The other children tried to distract them in whatever ways they liked (within reason). The volunteer tried to keep learning. After a while they explained some of the strategies they used to maintain their concentration. After,we made a poster about all the things we can do if we get stuck with our work.
